3D Printshow in London

We went to the 3D Printshow in London earlier this month to take a peak into the current technologies in the 3D Printing industry.

The Old Billingsgate market building where the show took place was turned into 3D printing heaven and was jam packed with 3D printers from the size of a pen up to 1.3 meter cube. From fashion and food to robots and film props, it was an exploration of the possibilities of 3D printing.

Amongst all the gadgets and geeky things there was also an Art & Fashion Gallery where artists and designers created conceptual pieces using 3D printing.

Other interesting projects we found were ProtoPrint who are working with communities in India to produce the world's first Fair Trade filament for 3D Printing as well as working on very interesting projects in other countries to determine how 3D printing can improve people's lives.

Hubs are building a directory of companies and organizations around the world with 3D Printing facilities with the aim to make people aware of these services and their costs, therefore making 3D printing more widely available.

Victoria Jones, Head of Makers Using Technology, was in the Arts Panel at the event and talked about 3D printing as a creative tool and the hand processes involved in creating 3D prints.

The 3D Printshow is a touring conference going through a number of cities world wide. The next one will take place in Paris on 17th October.
