A pilgrimage can be described as a rite of passage or journey that one embarks on in order to have a transformative experience. 'The Twelve Minute Pilgrimage' attempts to convey a catalysing event, a journey and a place of resolution. The term ‘pilgrimage’ expresses an inner journey as opposed to a route to a predetermined destination, although the work does reference a real journey in a real place. In this instance the journey was not self-initiated but its resolution was.
